Mission:
The mission of the Department of Computer Science is to prepare students for careers as software professionals and for advanced studies in Computer Science. Computer software has gained tremendous importance and a huge software industry has evolved in the last two decades. We develop and work with a range of technologies to build systems and applications that help solve today’s problems, and share skills and knowledge with the community.
Objectives:
Within a few years of graduation, graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program will be actively contributing individually and in teams, ethically applying expertise to solve problems, effectively communicating, and building on their knowledge to grow in their careers.
Aims:
The program-specific aims and learning outcomes of the study programs offered by the Department of Computer Science are given below.
- To provide graduates with basic knowledge in both theory and practice in Computer Science, including current emerging technologies and experimental learning
- To prepare students to contribute to the computing profession upon graduation
- To provide a basis for continued study, and growth in their fields
- To provide students with a good grasp of core contents of Computer Science which any professional in the subject is expected to know
- To make aware of research results and latest trends in the key areas of the subject
- To produce graduates with sound knowledge in both theory and practice in Computer Science, including current emerging technologies and experimental learning
- To prepare students to contribute to the computing profession upon graduation, and
- To provide a basis for postgraduate study, and enable them to make effective and efficient use of computers to solve human, scientific, engineering, or physical problems, as builders of powerful and easy-to-use tools, researchers, and educators
